Cinematographer - Richard Sobin
Started out as a film projectionist from 1984-1987 before moving to Chicago in 1988. Sobin then attended Columbia College Chicago from 1989-1990 where he studied the craft and art of cinematography. Soon after Rick joined the International Cinematographers Guild in 1991 and began working on motion pictures.
Rick worked his way through the camera department in every position from loader to cinematographer. During that time he worked on two academy award winners, JFK and Road to Perdition in the camera dept.
In 2000 Third Rail a short film Rick DP’d Won Best Cinematography in the International Cinematographers film festival. Rick has always been about giving back to the film community by also teaching while working as an industry professional. It was in 2005 where Rick Sobin was teaching a Focus pulling seminar at Columbia College Chicago when he met Director Mike Lynch, who at the time was still a student. Mike was impressed by both his skill and passion that it was soon after he then asked Rick to be the cinematographer for Burden.
